Piedmont and Veneto

The organic Williams pear is the pear par excellence in Italy: Piedmont and Veneto rank as the main regions which produce them in the country. The pear has been known and eaten since the Stone Age.

The ancestry of this modern fruit can be traced to the south-eastern regions of Europe and the western ones of Asia. The cultivation of the Williams pear expanded in England between 1765 and 1770 and the name has its origins in Williams, who in fact diffused it.
